E.Pruitt is an award-winning bass soloist, composer, and clinician whose genre-defying sound seamlessly blends contemporary jazz, funk, R&B, and neo-soul. A native of Kansas City and a graduate of the prestigious Charlie Parker School for the Performing Arts, "E" has built an international reputation as both a masterful performer and an influential industry insider.

 

Armed with his signature 6 and 7-string Surine basses—frequently utilizing high-register tunings that mimic a piccolo bass—Pruitt’s melodic and groove-heavy style places him alongside titans like Wayman Tisdale, Gerald Veasley, and George Benson.

 

His solo work has achieved significant critical and commercial success, highlighted by three tracks from his Bass Graffiti album climbing into the Smooth Jazz Top 100 in 2025.

 

Over his distinguished career, he has toured the United States, Europe, and Asia, sharing stages with and opening for an eclectic array of music royalty, including B.B. King, Gerald Albright, Norman Brown, Brian Bromberg, The Scorpions, and Sir Mix-A-Lot. Notably, he was one of only two bassists personally contacted by Vernon Reid to audition for the open bass chair in the legendary rock band Living Colour.

 

Beyond the stage, Pruitt is a highly sought-after educator and product specialist. He anchored Warwick’s premier in-store clinic series from 1998 to 2000, helped design the innovative "Phat Boy" and "BCC" bass effects processors with ART, and released a comprehensive 3-DVD instructional set with Next Level Guitar in 2015. His profound technical knowledge led to corporate leadership roles, including serving as the Bass Product Specialist for KORG USA (2014–2016) and managing Artist Relations and Marketing for Bartolini Pickups and Electronics.

 

A recipient of numerous accolades, including "Best Band" at the 2018 Seattle Sound Music Awards, E.Pruitt continues to push the boundaries of modern bass performance across the globe.
